Call for papers

First Circular (June 23, 2010)

Dear colleagues,

The Executive Committee of the Linguistic Society of Nepal (LSN) takes pleasure in announcing the 31st Annual Conference of Linguistic Society of Nepal to be held on November 26-27, 2010 in Kathmandu. The annual conference is one of the major activities of the Society which aims to provide a platform for Nepalese and foreign linguists, emerging linguist and practitioners working on the various aspects and fileds of (preferably but not limited to) the languages of Nepal.

Papers are invited on theoretical, descriptive, interdisciplinary, or applied aspects of the language at different levels. Some of the major areas are suggested as follows:

-     Phonology
-     Morphology
-     Syntax
-     Historical Linguistics
-     Sociolinguistics
-     Semantics and lexical studies
-     Mother-tongue education
-     Indigenous languages
-     Corpus and computational linguistics
-     Natural language processing
-     Typological studies
-     Applied linguistics
-     Langauge teaching
-     Langauge policy

  • Please submit an electronic copy of abstract:

-     in English language
-     Times New Roman or equivalent font, and IPA Unicode for the data in other languages; only Unicode fonts can be used for other scripts if it is necessary
-     in MS Word format and its PDF file.

  • Please limit it between 120-150 words (neither less nor more words will be entertained) excluding title
  • Please include full name (s), title (s), affiliation (s), and contact of the authors with the abstract.
  • Please submit it by or before August 23rd 2010.

The abstracts will be peer reviewed.
Accepted authors will be notified by September 15th.
